Filling „La Página en Blanco“ (the white page) with a world of obscure images, Claudia Rohrmoser and Benjamin Hohnheiser createdan animated video scenography for the opera „La Página en Blanco“. In cooperation with stage director David Hermann and scenographer and sculptor Alexander Polzin, they are responsible for about 25mins in three video passages for the contemporary production of composer Pilar Jurado. A self developed live playback interface enables an outstanding, vital interplay between orchestra, stage artists, scenography and video elements. With projection support of Jakob Guggenberger, the experienced crew from Cinema Vertigo Lab (Schmiede10) is complete.

Die Schnittstelle ist fixer Bestandteil der Schmiede. Sie eröffnet diese nicht nur seit vier Jahren, sondern dient auch als Brücke von den teilnehmenden Künstlern zum beobachtenden Publikum. Anfangs in der Schmiede selbst untergebracht, findet sie seit einigen Jahren in der Galerie Pro Arte statt. Seit 2009 zieht sie sogar weiter und ist nach der Schmiede auch in einer Berliner Galerie zu sehen. Unter dem Titel „Duprass“ wurden heuer die gemeinsamen Arbeiten von jeweils zwei Künstlern gezeigt. Zu diesem Namen ließ sich Kurator Marcel Schobel vom Autor Kurt Vonnegut und seinem Buch „Cat´s Cradle“ inspirieren.

HALLEIN. Einen Jingle, der unverwechselbar an Hallein erinnert, hat TVB-Obmann Ernst Kronreif im September unter den Teilnehmern der Schmiede10 gesucht. Der für Radio- und Fernsehwerbung gedachte Audioclip sollte den „Silent Night“-Bezug der Statd hervorheben, aber auch an heißen Sommertagen Wirkung zeigen.
Das Rennen machte der Smith Matias Monteagudo aus Caracas, der seit 2007 an der Schmiede teilnimmt. 2009 ist der Komponist aus Venezuela ausgewandert, um in Salzburg zu leben und zu arbeiten. Diese Woche wurde das Werk übergeben und Matias Monteagudo mit 1.000 Euro Preisgeld aus Hallein belohnt.

Die österreichische Tageszeitung „Die Presse“ hat eine 52-teilige Serie mit dem Titel „Freiraum“ gestaltet. Jeden Sonntag widmet sich eine ganze Seite diesem Thema. Jede Woche kann ein Kreativer/ein Kollektiv diesen Freiraum gestalten.
Wir haben zur Schmiede10 dahingehend eine Kooperation mit der „Presse“, dass wir einen „Freiraum“ im Rahmen der Schmiede10 ausschreiben.
Wir bitten also um zahlreiche Vorschläge/Entwürfe und einer davon wird auf jeden Fall in der „Presse“ abgedruckt werden.

Gewünscht ist eine „gesellschaftspolitisch und im Zusammenhang mit der Kreativwirtschaft relevante Aussage, die mit optischen Mitteln (Foto, Illustration, Collage, Grafik, etc.) veranschaulicht wird – sozusagen ein visueller Kommentar. Der Greif ist ein Magazin, das vor drei Jahren in der Gegend rund um den Ammersee entwickelt wurde. Es zeigt Fotografien und dazu passende Texte, will Gefühle erzeugen. Mittlerweile ist der Greif sehr international und veröffentlicht Werke aus der ganzen Welt. Auf der Schmiede ist das Team rund um das poetische Magazin heuer zum zweiten Mal, um mit dem Input der Smiths eine eigene Schmiede-Ausgabe zu gestalten. Simon Karstetter und Matthias Lohnscheidt erzählen im folgenden Interview über Ihr Vorhaben.

Smiths of Berlin consider yourself invited to Open Design City ODC crew come and meet even more cool people than you already know.
Evening will begin with a few spontaneous informal presentations, and then swiftly slip into a freestyle get together. We’ll set up a projector so people can show movies and footage, but powerpoint is outlawed and everyone gets 5 minutes max, with opportunity for more later if the mood takes us.
So anybody who wants to show/share something bring it with you.

VIA enables teenagers to have the experience of making a trailer with professional artists. This allows them to explore their own interests and skills that they have already developed, either through school or in their spare time and give them a chance to build upon this through the context of Schmiede10. This is instead of self-imposed trends that are set-up for “Yooofff”-this kind of ‘dumbing-down’ for teenagers and pre-teens is patronising and negates their responsibility causing either aggression, hyperactivity and/or irresponsibility which often leads into adult life. Last year on schmiede, we finished our track Wueste; on this year's Schmiede we are going to shoot a 9-minute one-shot-video. We are going to walk through Schmiede playing Wueste; on this walk, we want to run into people, intaract or let them act, and move on.
For this we are looking for *performances will last between 2 sec and 20 sec*. And please, they don't have to be serious ;)))))) *Do the monkey, yes! *
Most probably we will be shooting on Sunday Sept. 19th; till then we will prepare, find our path through Schmiede and coordinate the participation. Even though this is a video from drama&stern, we want to pay our respects and show a lot of Schmiede-flair!

Cinema Vertigo can be adjusted to any architectural space that includes more than one floor. It is able to track movement and the interactive system furthermore can be attached to any other moving element in the room. In April 2009 we presented the prototype of Cinema Vertigo with its first "movie" „In Freefall“ .
As Schmiede can provide the perfect testing surroundings we will bring Cinema Vertigo to Schmiede10 in order to open up this test platform and format to interested and motivated audio/visual artists and performers. We will have a huge dark room where ...

Palomar5 is a network-organization on a quest for positive innovation. Topics and projects encompass the imaginations and talents of the community. Palomar5 is looking for spaces, translations and chances – somewhere between living rooms and corporations, professionalism and non-professionalism, dreams and a sensible way of life.
Schmiede has always been about projects. Starting 2010 we will put more focus onto the continuity of a few outstanding projects and Smiths. Therefore, few large Senior Smith Projects will be integrated into the Schmiede10 process. They are experimental platforms designed to confront with new challenges and potentially produce more than a single Smith could. A large part of Schmiede10 will be devoted to these projects.
Every applicant has the possibility to voice his/her interest to working on one by specifically applying to the Senior Smith Projects . Only a limited number of Smith can work on these projects. Involvment in a Senior Smith Project is optional. There is an extra section at the end of the Schmiede10 application, for the interested.

Schmiede stands for three things: create, network, present.
Schmiede is a prosumer festival, a place where our ideas come to play.
Since 2003, Schmiede provides space, time, tools, a heterogeneous group of participants and projects. For ten days in September, the Saline in Hallein, Austria, becomes an open and free playground (2000m2) for 140 creatives and artists from all around the world. Depending on the needs and possibilities of its members the SmithNetwork moves along the borders of art, culture, handcraft and creative industry. Schmiede ends with FocusOnInside, a grand public exhibition, where the Smith productions of the past ten days are presented to the public and media.
