migrating city

In considering the house as a symbol of structure and stability, we would like to explore the fault line of its inherent fragility and underlying instability, shifting what we assume to be set on solid ground. 

We are building a miniature city of paper houses to create a physical landscape in a dance installation. We live within these formed constructions but they are often less solid and predictable than we imagine. We all have our own relationships to stability and structure, be it desire for, rejection to or the elastic duality of both.  The seductive liberty of  chaos or simply the unplanned disturbance to a system can shake the foundations of our ordered world. Playing with the exaggerated difference in scale, we hope to see the structures we live within from a distance, amplifyng the effects of human choices, accidents, and perceptions that may cause a shift.

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS:

*Assistants to build paper houses (we have a prototype). We would like to build about 100 and any help would be welcomed!....anytime or a crafty workshop Monday at 12:00

* Participants in our installation- you don't have to dance, we would just like to have multiple bodies in space. Workshop: Tuesday at 12:00
