We were asked: Is there any possibility to see other participants' proposals for hacks for Schmiede welcomes Music and Bits so that we could possibly express interest in certain ideas and probably also think about collabs?

I believe this is a great question and I would like to strongly encourage any pre-Schmiede Smith  communication. 

so here are some straight options: 

post into the Schmiede fb page or Smith fb Group
post into the Schmiede welcomes Music and Bits fb event
create a SmithProject for your hack idea or post into the SmithBlog on Schmiede.ca 
(you must be logged in for that to be possible)

and another question: 
participation for Schmiede welcomes Music and Bits is free and open.  We got enough space, invited great people, provide food and stuff and there is even a price.
All you need to do is register (till September 14th) and participate.
